Team Tip Sharing: The Anti-Conflict Guide for Restaurants (2026)
Manual tip pooling: why it's a problem
Managing tips as a team in restaurants is often a source of tension. Manual cash pooling — counting coins, dividing by hand — generates frustration: calculation errors, lack of transparency, and wasted time at the end of each shift.
How team management works on TipsYou
The shared pool
When the shared pool is enabled, customers see the team's collective wallet and contribute directly to it.
Equal distribution
The team leader can distribute the pool among selected members at any time. Distribution is equal: each selected member receives the same share. A minimum of €3 is required to start a distribution.
Individual tipping still possible
When the pool is disabled, customers can tip the team or a specific member directly. When the pool is enabled, customers can only contribute to the team wallet.
Two operating modes
Pool enabled: customers can only see and contribute to the team wallet — no individual choice. The leader distributes equally among selected members.
Pool disabled: customers can tip the team wallet or a specific member directly. Each server appears individually and customers choose who to tip.
